Trail Tidbits: Recapping a star-studded weekend on Rocky Top
Tennessee defeated Texas A&M 20-13 on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium to improve to 5-1, 2-1 on the season. The Vols outlasted the Aggies in front of several high priority recruits. Volquest goes in-depth on this and more in this episode of Trail Tidbits.
Stat-Sheet Stuffers
As we always do, we highlighted targets and commitments big games on Friday night.
2025 In-state ATH Cameron Sparks had a big first quarter in a light workload night as Baylor cruised to victory. Sparks returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and also had a nice over the shoulder touchdown grab.
2024 in-state commitments and Bradley Central teammates, Boo Carter and Marcus Goree, both found their way into the end zone on special teams. Carter returned a punt 75-yards for a touchdown while Goree returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Carter also found the end zone on a receiving score.
Elsewhere, five-star commitment Mike Matthews continues to re-write the Parkview record book. He added two catches for 59 yards and a touchdown on Friday night.
Top Tennessee QB Target MacIntyre Returns to Campus
Elite 2025 quarterback George MacIntyre was back on campus for the first time this season, and he came away impressed with another gameday atmosphere at Tennessee.

“I got here last night, and today, I kind of just hung out,” MacIntyre told Volquest on Saturday. “The visit started about 12:30 with all of the other recruits. It is going good. I like all of the coaches. They have a lot of guys here to support the quarterback, so I think that is good to see when I am thinking about all of my options.”
Elite WR Gets First Look at Tennessee
2025 Atlanta-area Wide Receiver Travis Smith will certainly be a name to know in the class, and the Vols are already prioritizing him. The four-star pass-catcher was impressed with his first look at Tennessee.
“You watch TV, you see the quick cameras showing how the checker is, but I did not realize how organized it is,” Smith said. “Seeing that live, it was beautiful. My first impression of Neyland Stadium was coming through and seeing that bridge beside the stadium covered with fans, and it was all love from them.”
