Veteran cornerback Gabe Jeudy-Lally consistently found his way onto the field for Tennessee this fall. With the COVID eligibility waiver, the veteran cornerback was eligible to return to Rocky Top for another season, and moments ago on social media, he announced his intentions to forego his final season of eligibility and enter the NFL Draft.

Jeudy-Lally played in each game for the Vols this season, and started in 11 straight games to close out the season.

He consistently saw his role grow over the course of the season, and he made several big plays down the stretch, including a late-game interception against Texas A&M to helped to propel the Vols to a 20-13 victory.

In Tennessee’s 2023 season finale against Iowa in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, Juedy-Lally recorded five tackles and a pass breakup.

Jeudy-Lally totaled 41 tackles, five pass defenses, and an interception this season, after being a pivotal part of Tennessee’s defensive rotation.

Pro Football Focus graded the veteran cornerback this season on 568 defensive snaps. He received a 73.6 overall grade, according to the rankings.

A look at Jeudy-Lally’s path to Rocky Top

The veteran cornerback has been a bit of a journeyman to this point. He spent three seasons at Vanderbilt (2019-21) before transferring to BYU for the 2022 season. Jeudy-Lally routinely found his way into the starting lineup at both of his previous stops as well.

Jeudy-Lally played in all 13 games at BYU in 2022 and recorded 47 total tackles and 7 pass defenses during the course of the season. His production for the Cougars led to him receiving heavy interest upon re-entering the transfer portal.

Jeudy-Lally was one of two BYU transfers Tennessee brought in this year, as Jeudy-Lally joined veteran linebacker Keenan Pili.

An outlook at the cornerback room for 2024

Tennessee has continued to recruit the cornerback position hard over the past few cycles. The Vols brought in Rickey Gibson, Jordan Matthews, and Cristian Conyer last cycle, and they signed Kaleb Beasley and Marcus Goree in this cycle, and added Oregon State transfer Jermod McCoy from the portal already.
