Tennessee and Clemson are finally about to do battle in the Capital One Orange Bowl following weeks of preparation around finals, Signing Day and other distractions since the end of the regular season. Depending on where you look, the Vols are as many as a six-point underdog heading into the showdown.

Former Vol running back Jay Graham and offensive lineman Spencer Riley joined Eric Cain on the Orange Bowl edition of the VFL Players’ Lounge. The two VFLs breakdown the matchup and the challenges the Tigers present on both offense and defense.

Graham and Riley also detail the season as a whole and the job Josh Heupel has done in two years on Rocky Top.

Former Vol OL Spencer Riley

The former offensive lineman was a four-year letterman for the Volunteers from 1996-99. Riley played guard his first two seasons on Rocky Top before shifting to center later in his career. He was the starting center and a team captain for Tennessee’s national championship team in 1998. Riley is currently the head football coach for his alma mater Patriots at Jefferson County High School and has led the squad to back-to-back playoff appearances in 6-A football in Tennessee.

Former Vol RB Jay Graham

Jay Graham was a very productive running back for the Big Orange from 1993-96. He ranks eighth all-time in Volunteer history with 2,609 rushing yards and is tied for 10th-place with 25 rushing touchdowns. In 1995, Graham totaled 1,438 yards on 273 carries and registered 11 games of 100-yard rushing performances. He was drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft and he also played for the Seahawks and the Packers. Graham is a veteran coach in the college ranks, spending the 2012 and 2020 seasons coaching the running backs in Knoxville.
