Vol Club Confidential: Braylon Staley

Tennessee wideout Braylon Staley has seen tremendous growth over the last several months. He joined Vol Club Confidential sponsored by Knoxville Smiles this week to talk about his elevated role in the offense.
“I feel like this spring I’m more comfortable,” Staley said. “Last year I was more timid. I was coming out of high school. Coming and playing in this offense is fast so I’m thinking too much. I’m trying to not think too much and I’m trying to not mess up. Now I’m playing fast and being decisive and everything is working out in my favor.”
The mindset coming out of high school is one of trying to prove himself.
“Coming out of high school I’m the big star,” Staley said. “I’m the big fish in a small pond. Now I get here and I need to show them what I can do. Now it’s just go out and ball.”

Staley got his most playing time of the season against Ohio State in the college football playoff. He is trying to build off that this spring as a playmaker on offense.
“The coaches just having trust in me to go out there and do what I know what to do,” Staley said. “Coming into the season now, I feel like they trust me a lot. I just have to keep building their confidence in me and just keep playing ball.”
