Vol Club Confidential: Bru McCoy

Former 5-star Bru McCoy has been clutch for Tennessee all season long in his first year on Rocky Top.
The Southern Cal transfer has been just what the Vols hoped he would be through 11 games this season. He has caught 48 passes for 619 yards and three touchdowns heading into the season finale.
All of that is pretty impressive after McCoy didn’t play in 2021 season for the Trojans.
Due to an earlier transfer McCoy had to be granted an appeal with the NCAA to be eligible this fall. When Southern Cal wouldn’t sign his waiver they eventually came out in support of him.
The NCAA acted swiftly on McCoy’s appeal ruling him eligible six days before the opener. It made for an anxious time for the SoCal native and McCoy shared the joke that Josh Heupel got over on him before telling him he was eligible.
In this week’s episode, he detailed where his nickname ‘Bru’ came from and how much he has learned and grown off the field through his path back to the top.

He also dove into what his catch in the final moments of the win against Alabama meant to him and his family.
