Vol Club Confidential: Chaz Lanier

Tennessee senior guard Chaz Lanier has been tremendous in his one and only on Rocky Top. He joined Vol Club Confidential sponsored by Knoxville Smiles to detail his move to Rocky Top and how his official visit set the tone.
“It was like 12 am and all the guys were in the locker room waiting,” Lanier recalled. “Just joining something that was bigger than me was important to me.
“We had a good set up of southern food waiting on me. I didn’t know they would be waiting. I was coming from my Kentucky visit and I was asking the driver are we going to the hotel and he said no we are going to the arena. I was checking my phone and it was like 11 pm at this time. I didn’t ask why. Me and my mom were in the backseat sleeping and we wake up and the coaches are outside the arena. They grab our bags and we walk in and everybody was in there.”
When he decided to enter the portal, Lanier quickly found out how much Tennessee fans wanted him an orange.
“It was wild,” Lanier said. “Even when I was doing the draft process, all the Tennessee fans were corralling my Instagram and Twitter and everything. I could feel the love and the Tennessee love is just a little bit different.”
