Tennessee forward Darlinstone Dubar is finding his role in his first year with the Vols. He joined Vol Club Confidential sponsored by Knoxville Smiles this week to talk about his place on Rocky Top.

“This year has been unbelievable so far,” Dubar said. “The fans are amazing. The coaching staff and teammates. I have grown a lot in becoming a leader and just using my voice on my different opinions on what I think. Outside of the court, Knoxville is a wonderful area. People are nice and have manners so I love Knoxville.”

Dubar has loved the game from an early age.

“I think I was seven playing in a little rec league and I remember I used to take on the whole team,” Dubar said. “I was very competitive. I didn’t like to lose. I remember losing a game and after I was crying because I didn’t want to lose. That’s when I fell in love with it. That’s when my dad would take me and was watching and he was proud of me.”

Tennessee finishes its three-game homestand against No. 20 Missouri on Wednesday, a 7 p.m. Eastern time start on SEC Network.

The Vols then go on the road for four of the next five, going to Oklahoma next Saturday, to Kentucky (February 11), to Texas A&M (February 22) and to LSU (February 25). A home date with Vanderbilt on February 15 divides the four road games.

After that, Tennessee closes the regular-season schedule with games against Alabama (March 1), at Ole Miss (March 5) and home against South Carolina (March 8), before the postseason begins with the SEC Tournament on March 12 in Nashville.
