Vol Club Confidential: Hunter Ensley

From Alaska to Omaha, Hunter Ensley has done it all. He joined Vol Club Confidential sponsored by Knoxville Smiles to detail his run on Rocky Top and more, which includes lots of change in the clubhouse.
“It’s definitely an every year thing that I’ve been here,” Ensley said. “You get so many guys in and out. You have your transfer guys in and the next thing they get drafted and it’s the next man up. Obviously with the older guys leaving too I remember three years ago I was looking at Luc Lipcius like we was old and in the blink of an eye I’m the old guy now.”
But the question becomes, does Ensley really feel like grandpa with these new additions?
“I don’t feel old,” Ensley said. “I think the young guys keep me feeling young. Guys like Andrew Fisher have a lot of personality so they keep me laughing too. I do feel like the older mentor but I don’t feel as old as I probably am.”

The Alaska native moved to Huntingdon, Tennessee when he was five and became a great athlete in multiple sports at Huntingdon High. Obviously baseball was his more polished love but he was also a star football player for Huntingdon High School, earning TSWA Class A All-State honors twice (2018 & 2019). As a senior, he was a finalist for Tennessee Class A Mr. Football in 2019, becoming the first athlete in Huntingdon High history to be a finalist for Mr. Football and Mr. Baseball.

Ensley had a strong weekend against Samford this past weekend.
He hit a solo shot that just got over the centerfield wall on Sunday. The drive was 394 feet with 100 mph exit velocity on the tail. It was the second home run of the season as Ensley belted the second of what has become four grand slams for the Vols this year on Saturday against Hofstra.
