East St. Louis, Illinois native Javontez Spraggins is a strong story of perseverance and personal growth. As a three year starter, Spraggins is a key piece in the offensive trenches.

He has started all 12 games this season at right guard and played 827 snaps on the year. He blocked for 49 offensive snaps in the regular season finale at Vanderbilt without allowing a sack or pressure as the Vols racked up a season-high 362 yards on the ground and program-record 11.7 yards per carry.

Against his home state Missouri Tigers, he did not allow a sack in 75 snaps of action in the win over Missouri as the Big Orange racked up a program record 724 yards of total offense and set a school record for points scored against an SEC opponent in the 66-24 victory.

He took home SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors after a strong performance vs. #20 Florida by playing all 72 snaps without allowing a pressure.

Following that win over Florida, Spraggins started to be seen carrying stuffed animals around the field after each win. Two weeks later, he would ramp up the crowd at LSU carrying a stuffed tiger. That’s when he would give himself the nickname the Zoo Keeper. It was his interaction with the fans that would bring him these stuffed animals that made him an easy fan favorite.

He is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. He has Played in 32 games with 25 career starts, including 24 at right guard and one at tight end in a jumbo package and saw action on 1,779 career snaps.

In this week’s Vol Club Confidential, Spraggins dives into where his motivation comes from and how a trip to the weight room is something that gets him going.
