Vol Club Confidential: Josiah-Jordan James
Tennessee super senior guard Josiah Jordan James has had a successful run on Rocky Top during his time in Knoxville. He sat down this week to discuss his run on Vol Club Confidential to discuss a decision to give it one more year in orange.
“In my exit interview I told the coaches you create the roster however you want,” Jordan James said. “You can get guys in my position, in my skill set because I wanted them to go forward like I wasn’t coming back. I wanted to be all in on the NBA draft process and I was. I spent two months down in Miami with my agency and got know a lot of guys and became invested in being the best version of myself I could possibly be. I didn’t start to think about the return, I was in constant talks with coach Barnes letting him know it was going. It was after the G-League combine I had a few days to make a decision and I told him I had gotten good feedback but it was win win. I just felt like the way last year ended and I wasn’t able to perform the way I wanted due to injury. I had guys like Santi and Zakai recruiting me back. It’s hard to say no and I made the decision and I haven’t looked back since.”

When he came back, it was technically as a walk-on because the staff had filled open spots. Then Chris Ledlum decided to leave after just a few weeks and he was back on scholarship.
“My hope was to be the best walk-on player in college basketball,” Jordan James said. “That’s what my dream was but it worked out differently. Chris and I got to know each other really well and I still stay in contact with him until the day. I was able to receive it back and coaches were ragging on me but it was different for sure.”
