Vol Club Confidential: Tony Vitello
After what was a magical season, Vol Club Confidential sponsored by Knoxville Smiles, kicked season 3 off with baseball coach Tony Vitello. The top baseball Vol is having a blast, which also includes as a cheerleader for other sports.
“I feel like I’m a part of the football program,” Vitello said. “We can help kickoff that and all the other fall sports that are about to take off over our campus.
“The break is perfect because we haven’t had one since the parade. It was an adrenaline rush like you have never had before. The fall is an easier pace so I feel like that’s when it will sink in and we will be able to enjoy all the fall sports but that we ended with on a successful note.”
Vitello is a main stay at Tennessee home games. He has also been on scene for the bowl wins but a rare road game appearance is possible this fall.

“It’s tough because we have practice but some donors have helped me out so I’ve been to a couple,” Vitello said. “It’s going to be very difficult but the Oklahoma game is a possibility because we don’t have a scrimmage that weekend. There is all kinds of chaos because we have Morgan (Wallen) coming into town. We are in the middle of fall baseball so you hate to miss practice and Saturdays are a big one for us.”
And as for Wallen and his concerts in September, Vitello is almost certainly going to be on hand. Will he play the role that Mike Tyson and Tom Brady did in Vegas by leading Wallen out to the stage?
“There is potential but nothing has been firmed up,” Vitello said with a laugh. “But I got to tell you I lose interest in being that guy when you are Tom Brady and Mike Tyson. That’s not exactly an equal comparison. I’m down to do whatever. I’m glad it finally worked out.”
