Vol Club Confidential: Tyre West
Tennessee junior defensive lineman Tyre West has seen tremendous growth during his two plus years on Rocky Top. He joined Vol Club Confidential sponsored by Knoxville Smiles to talk about his path.
“What took my game to the next level was sitting there and watching everyone else,” West said. “Just taking mental reps and physical reps. Just getting better by the day.”
Before the Oklahoma back in September, West came out of the tunnel and engaged in some heavy trash talk with Sooner players. Early in the game, he had a massive sack and it validated his pregame mindset.
“The decision behind it was we are playing against Oklahoma and it’s a new team,” West said, “Dijon Terry is there and we are like brothers. Knowing me, I’m good at getting in people’s head at times.”

The message was clear.
“This is your house but we cam me to take over,” West said. “That was definitely the message and we did.”
West has learned from his teammates and enjoyed the journey with them.
“I’d say Dom Bailey,” West said. “I try to model everything after him. Then Big O and Big E. Mostly our whole defensive line really.”
