Tennessee quarterback commit George MacIntyre looked like a high end prospect should look on Thursday night. Playing over in East Tennessee as Brentwood Academy ran and threw all over Knoxville Catholic by a score of 63-26. After the game, Volquest caught up with him to get his take on the Eagles improvement after a 2-10 season last fall.

“I think we are starting to get the system down and we know what the coaches want with the plays when they call them,” MacIntyre said. “It’s been tough with a lot of young guys playing that have been in four systems but I think late in the season it’s really coming together and it’s the next time to do it.”

They have a nice blend of offense with head coach Paul Wade bringing an old school feel and mixing it with the shotgun feel of having a talented gunslinger.

“I think it’s pretty functional,” MacIntyre said. “Getting in bigger sets, I think you get more one on ones on the outside. I think it’s a blend of the beginning of the year and last year and coach Cameron has helped with that and keeping our identity with coach Wade’s offense.”

MacIntyre was 14 of 16 for 255 yards and two touchdowns. He has started to find his groove within the framework of the offensive structure and is playing quite confidently due to a fast rising group of playmakers.

“I think finding a connection with a guy like Keshaun Bowman who put on a show tonight,” MacIntyre said. “It’s come later in the season but he is super talented and we have keep finding ways to get him the ball.”

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was by to see both he and 2026 stud Tyreek King on Thursday night. MacIntyre will be back at Tennessee this weekend as he stayed in town after the game. It’s a chance to recruit other players in his class and the upcoming class to join him.

“I think it starts with the commits,” MacIntyre said. “We definitely don’t want anymore decommits after Doug (Utu). Just stay on guys and see where there minds at and I’ll definitely be on Tyreek (King) after seeing him in person.”
