Vols LB commit Brenden Anes details official visit
Page High School (Tenn.) standout linebacker Brenden Anes committed to Tennessee on Halloween. Anes chose the Vols before using his official visit, so this weekend, he returned to get another in-depth look at his future home. He detailed the stop with Volquest.
“I got pretty much everything that I needed,” Anes said of the visit. “They covered everything from strength and conditioning to nutrition to just talking ball with the coaches and personal development and player engagement was all really great. The things they can do academically as well. They hit every point.”
“It is definitely a little different now,” Anes added of taking this visit now that he is committed to the Vols. “I look at it from a different perspective, like this is where I am now. I need to make this home .”
The messaging from Tennessee has never changed since Anes committed to the Vols last month, and this weekend reminded him of just how comfortable he is with the staff.
“It has kind of been the same thing,” Anes said of the conversation with the Tennessee coaches this weekend. “The expectations and what not and what I will be doing here. Just that sort of stuff. They have been treating me the same way (since I committed), which I love about them. They love me for the person I am. They are all just awesome, Coach Heupel, Coach Inge, and Coach Banks. I love everybody here. It is great being back home.”
The in-state linebacker target was highly impressed with the way the Tennessee defense played during Saturday’s shutout win over UTEP.

“It was great,” he said of this. “They shut them out. They were causing havoc and creating turnovers. That quarterback could move well, so they were doing really well at containing him. The linebackers played great. I always enjoy watching them and talking with Coach Inge about them as well.”
Anes got to spend plenty of time around some current Tennessee linebacker during the visit which is something he enjoyed.
“I went into the locker room and talked with Telander for a little bit, he is really cool,” Anes said of this. “I hung out with Edwin (Spillman) and Jordan (Burns) last night. They are really cool guys. Edwin is great. He was my host. They are both really cool.”
It is starting to set in for Anes that the process is coming to a close. He is still in pursuit of a state championship, but with the early signing period just ten days away, he is excited for his next chapter on Rocky Top.
“I am just excited to get here and show them what I’ve got,” Anes said of this.”
