The Vols in the NFL family is growing with more former Tennessee players making NFL rosters. Tuesday was the final cut day as NFL teams had to name their 53-man active roster to start the year.

It’s important to note that this is the initial 53 man roster and there will be more roster movement this week.

The Detroit Lions released quarterback Nate Sudfeld which paved the way for former Tennessee Football quarterback Hendon Hooker to be the back up to Jared Goff in the Motor City. Hooker played well in his final two preseason games going 24-35 for 264 a touchdown and an interception. He also rushed for 93 yards in the Lions final pre-season game against the Steelers.

In New England, Joe Milton made the 53 man squad as the Patriots released veteran back up Bailey Zappe.
