Where Tennessee baseball ranks in national polls following series-loss to Kentucky

Tennessee dropped its second-straight home series and it’s second series overall on the season this past weekend to Kentucky in Knoxville in two games to one fashion. With the series-loss, Tony Vitello’s program has dropped in the national rankings.

The Vols (33-7, 12-6 SEC) check in at No. 6 in this week’s D1 Baseball top-25, the poll this website follows for national rankings.

Texas remains in the top-slot with Clemson jumping up to No. 2. Both Oregon State and Florida State leaped three spots to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Arkansas slid back three spots to No. 5.

LSU, Tennessee’s opponent this weekend in Baton Rouge, moved up two spots to No. 7 while North Carolina advanced four up to No. 8. Vanderbilt made a massive jump this week, up 10 spots to No. 9 and Georgia slid back five spots to No. 10.    

In all, the Southeastern Conference comprises 10 teams inside the top-25 with six within the top-10.

Tennessee also came in at No. 6 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll but dropped two spots to No. 5 by Baseball America and two spots from Perfect Game to No. 7. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has yet to update their weekly poll as the Volunteers were No. 3 last week.
