Today is 15 days until kickoff. No. 15 for the Longhorns this season will be worn by Will Stone, a sophomore placekicker, and S’Maje Burrell, a true freshman linebacker
Will Stone season outlook
Stone handled kickoff duties in all 13 games for Texas in his freshman season, kicking off 86 times for 5,369 yards (62.4 average) with 26 touchbacks. He was a member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (fall 2022).

The true freshman linebacker is likely headed for a redshirt in 2023 unless he can carve out a role on the special teams this fall.

Recent player to wear No. 15: Hunter Lawrence
Lawrence appeared in 46 career games, racking up 223 career points while converting 34-of-39 FGs and 121-of-122 PATs. His .872 field goal accuracy ranked first all-time on UT’s career list when he finished as a Longhorn and his .992 PAT accuracy was on top of Texas’ career list as well.
Lawrence posted a streak of 76 consecutive PATs (then No. 2 on UT’s all-time list) and was a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, a third-team All-America selection and an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection in 2009. He was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and a three-time member of Texas Athletics Director’s Honor Roll.
