2025 EDGE Smith Orogbo, On3's No. 26 overall prospect, commits to Texas
Texas battled programs from around the country for 2025 Houston (Texas) Alief Hastings EDGE Smith Orogbo, but the recruitment narrowed down to Texas and Oklahoma in its final days. The Longhorns emerged victorious in the pursuit, earning Orogbo’s commitment over the Sooners plus other contenders like Washington and Texas Tech.

Speaking with Inside Texas’ Justin Wells, Orogbo, a 6-foot-4, 225-pounder, had extremely high praise for the Longhorns ahead of his decision. Now with Monday’s choice, he’ll be joining a program that he believes offers him a number of opportunities.
“The tradition and history,” said Orogbo. “Texas has a storied football program with a rich history and tradition of success. State-of-the-art training facilities, stadium, and resources available to athletes. The reputation and experience of the current coaching staff, as well as their ability to develop players. The fan base is passionate and dedicated that creates an exciting and supportive game-day atmosphere. That NFL pipeline, and strong track record of producing NFL talent and providing exposure to scouts and professional opportunities.”
In addition, Orogbo sees his fit on the field in burnt orange.
“Starts with the coaching staff,” Orogbo said. “Reputation, experience, and the coaching style of the head coach and assistant coaches. Program success, the team’s performance history, championships won, and consistency in competing at a high level. The facilities, quality of training facilities, stadium, and other sports-related infrastructure. The development opportunities, the program’s track record in developing players for professional leagues, such as the NFL. Then playing time and the potential for early playing time and fit within the team’s roster and playing style.”

Inside Texas’ Charlie Williams on Orogbo
Orogbo’s film reveals some unique traits and God-given abilities you can’t teach. He’s 6-foot-4 with long arms, two attributes he uses to his advantage. The first thing you see on film is his lightning quick first step. He gets off the ball quickly and puts the offensive lineman in a tough predicament. He does a great job of not only striking the OL but also creating space with physicality and using that room to operate to his advantage. One of his better moves is the push-pull technique.
Orogbo has a heck of a motor and tries to make a play every snap. In addition, he shows speed and effort chasing plays away from him. There’s evident athleticism as well in his work.
