2025 OLB Anthony Williams commits to Texas
Texas had three commitments for the Class of 2025, all from out-of-state. Then, Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek linebacker Anthony Williams became the Horns’ first pledge from the Lone Star State in this cycle.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound three-star chose the Longhorns over 25+ offers including Notre Dame, Oregon, Nebraska, Auburn, TCU, Houston, and others.
Williams has been a regular in Austin, watching the Longhorns multiple times on the Forty Acres. The Horns staff offered in late July after the BBQ recruiting event where he was able to watch the linebackers and defensive backs workout. His teammate, 2025 cornerback Cobey Sellers is another the Horns have squarely in their sights.
What is it about Texas that really checks all the boxes for the pass-rush specialist?
“The coaches for sure,” Williams told Inside Texas. “Everyone just talks about how good the school is and how the football team is, but the coaches are the main thing that stand out to me. Even though my guy coach (Jeff) Choate is leaving, I still have great relationships with the coaching staff so that’s why I feel like they stand out to me the most.”

What are a few examples of what Williams is looking closely at a few of the top schools?
“Some examples are mostly how the coaches care about me and want to be a part of their team and come in and play a big role,” said Williams. “Also at my athletic ability, I can play multiple positions.”
Williams joins QB KJ Lacey (Saraland, AL), TE Emaree Winston (Calhoun, GA), and DT Brandon Brown (Eau Gallie/Melbourne, FL) in UT’s Class of 2025.
