2025 On3 Industry Ranking four-star Taz Williams goes in-depth on Texas offer, recruitment
When 2025 Red Oak (Texas) wide receiver Taz Williams connected with the Texas football program on Tuesday, he didn’t know what to expect. One of the hottest recruits in the nation with offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, and Oregon was really excited just to hear from the Longhorns.

It was an offer from Texas, one he really wanted since he moved from Pittsburgh, Penn., a few years ago. Texas wide receivers coach Chris Jackson and the UT staff had a message for the 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect.
“‘We love you,” Williams said about the message from Texas. “You’re a great player, you’re doing everything right, and just keep working.’ I know I would fit it very well with that offense. Just knowing what (Texas) has right now, I can bring that same exact thing but better.”
Ohio State, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Alabama, Georgia and Cal are all in the mix for the rising playmaker. But from the group of interested schools, only Texas has a Red Oak teammate for Williams to connect with in 2023 signee Warren Roberson. Plus, Williams has two other teammates with Texas offers in Kamauryn Morgan and Brayden Robinson.

Williams had a fantastic sophomore campaign for the Hawks. He tallied 510 yards receiving and four touchdowns on 31 catches, with a 78-yard scoring jaunt in his varsity debut. He earned first team all-district honors as an athlete in 2022, and had a verified speed of 20.9 MPH during one play last season.
“I’m a very versatile player,” Williams told Inside Texas. “I can play inside and outside, I also can be a special teams threat in the return game if needed. I won’t get in any trouble off the field and I’ll keep getting better and train with Coach (Margin) Hooks.”
Williams is the No. 268 overall prospect, the No. 45 wide receiver, and the No. 47 player in Texas according to the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 rates Williams as a three-star prospect, and ranks him as the No. 230 overall player, the No. 34 wide receiver, and the No. 42 prospect in Texas.
