2025 QB KJ Lacey commits to Texas

Saraland (Ala.) quarterback KJ Lacey started Texas’ 2025 class on his Saturday visit to Texas by committing to the Longhorns.

Lacey, a 6-foot-1, 180 pounder, committed to Texas over almost 30 other offers including Oregon, TCU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCF, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida State, Louisville, Marshall, Memphis, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and. Ole Miss.

Lacey is ranked as the No. 80 prospect, the No. 5 quarterback, and the No. 8 player in Alabama according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. The On3 Industry Ranking is the industry’s most advanced, complete and unbiased rating and ranking measurement.

During the 2022 season, Lacey was 200-for-314 for 3177 yards with 40 touchdowns over 5 interceptions. He also rushed for 4 touchdowns during his sophomore campaign.

During his freshman season, Lacey was 20-of-23 for 216 yards with one touchdown.

Lacey is set to join a star-studded quarterback room in Austin. In addition to 2021 Southlake (Texas) Carroll’s Quinn Ewers, 2022 Austin (Texas) High’s Charles Wright, 2022 Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra’s Maalik Murphy, and 2023 New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman’s Arch Manning. By the time Lacey enrolls, 2024 Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair signal caller Trey Owens will also be on campus.
