A True Big Man with Athleticism

Dotie is a legit 6-foot-4, and 317 pounds, but what stands out the most is how well he moves for his size. He’s still raw, still learning the game, but his quickness, agility, and light feet were evident as he worked through drills. His serious demeanor and work ethic push others around him to match his intensity. Coaches have been challenging him to be more vocal, and it’s clear his teammates are already falling in line behind his leadership.

Watching him in workouts, you don’t often see a kid his size and age work this hard. Dotie knows he has the tools to be special, and he’s putting in the effort to become exactly what those around him believe he can be—a top national recruit at his position.

Recruitment Heating Up

Dotie currently holds offers from SMU, Baylor, Texas State, Houston, and UTEP, and more schools are starting to take notice. He’s hearing from Texas Tech, UNLV, Ole Miss, Florida, and Oklahoma, all of whom have shown increasing interest in the 6-foot-4 defensive lineman.

Dotie didn’t grow up following many teams, and his early favorites before receiving any offers were Hawaii, Tulsa, and Louisiana Tech. Those aren’t the powerhouse programs you typically see high-level recruits gravitate toward, but Dotie doesn’t care about logos—his recruitment will come down to relationships. While he’s open to playing far from home, his priority is making sure his mother can see him play.

Texas Showing Interest

While at Mesquite Poteet, Dotie and his coaches received follows on social media from members of the Texas staff, including Chris Gilbert and Pete KwiatkowskiTashard Choice, who visited two weeks prior, was introduced to Dotie through high school coach Anthony Byrd and mentioned that Texas would evaluate him further. Dotie hopes to visit Texas this spring to check out the program in person, and there is confidence among the staff that an offer will come.

Elite Training with Trench Warfare

Dotie is set to begin training with Brandon Tucker at Trench Warfare, one of the top trainers for defensive linemen. Tucker has worked with Colin Simmons, Alex January, Barryn Sorrell, Zina Umeozulu, and several former and current Longhorns. This training should help Dotie refine his game and unlock even more of his potential.
