2027 QB Gunner Rivers, son of Philip Rivers, to attend Texas' Sunday elite camp

2027 Fairhope (Ala.) St. Michael’s Catholic quarterback Gunner Rivers is camping at Texas on Sunday, Inside Texas has learned. Rivers is the oldest son of former NC State and NFL quarterback Philip Rivers, who is also the head coach of St. Michael’s Catholic.

Gunner Rivers is ranked as the No. 57 overall prospect, the No. 7 quarterback, and the No. 1 player in Alabama in the 2027 On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Rivers as the No. 160 overall prospect, the No. 15 quarterback, and the No. 2 player in Alabama.

The Longhorns have just two offers out to quarterbacks in the 2027 class. One is Hunting Beach (Calif.) four-star Brady Edmunds, who is committed to Ohio State. The other is Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian’s Peyton Houston, who is uncommitted and has seen Texas several times.

Other quarterbacks expected to be in Austin on Sunday are Colton Nussmeier, Malachi Zeigler, and Jerry Meyer.

During the 2024 season, Rivers was 267-for-424 for 3947 yards and 36 touchdowns over six interceptions. In 2023, his first season as a starter, Rivers was 229-for-362 for 3077 yards and 29 touchdowns over four interceptions. He has four career rushing touchdowns and one career receiving touchdown.

Teams involved with Rivers include Auburn, NC State, Georgia, Miami, South Carolina, and Missouri.
