68 days until Texas Football: Trevor Goosby, the tackle candidate from the 2023 class
Inside Texas is putting a new twist on long-time photographer Will Gallagher’s time-honored countdown to Texas football kickoff. In addition to Will’s great pictures, the Inside Texas staff will go through every player on the roster by jersey number and offer a season outlook on each, from five-star to walk-on.

Today is 68 days until kickoff. No one is currently assigned No. 68 for the Longhorns this season so we will take a look at freshman offensive lineman Trevor Goosby.
Trevor Goosby season outlook
Every offensive line class needs a tackle candidate, someone who arrives at their college with designs to man the blindside and with the accompanying physical capabilities needed. After Texas’ 2022 class featured several players who could play tackle, Goosby represented the prospect that filled that need in the 2023 group.
Others in his class like Payton Kirkland could end up sticking at tackle, but Goosby has a combination of size and strength that will only develop further as his career progresses and solidify his status on the edge. He showed some of that power during the recent state track meet, where he was a participant in the UIL 5A state shot put championship.
Goosby may need to show some patience as Kelvin Banks has a hold on left tackle this year and Christian Jones can say the same about the right side. Playing more than four games to burn the redshirt seems unlikely, but if he progresses in college strength and conditioning faster than anticipated he could set himself up for the chance to complete for playing time in 2024.
