Adonai Mitchell picked in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts
Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the 52nd pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, becoming the second wide receiver selected for the Horns in the 2024 draft.

During his lone season at Texas, Mitchell caught 55 passes for 845 yards and a Big 12-leading 11 touchdowns. He continued to perform in the College Football Playoff, recording a fifth-career touchdown reception on college football’s biggest stage in the Longhorns’ close loss to Washington. Mitchell was a second-team All-Big 12 selection and earned Big 12 newcomer of the year honors according tot he Associated Press.
Mitchell transferred to Texas to move closer to his daughter. He excelled with the Longhorns before heading to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Ind. and posting a 4.34 40-yard dash at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. He also recorded a 39.5-inch vertical jump and an 11 foot, 4 inch broad jump as part of a strong day in Indy.
Prior to his arrival on the 40 Acres, Mitchell spent two seasons at Georgia as part of the Bulldogs’ back-to-back national championship teams. He hauled in 38 catches for 560 yards and seven scores while in Athens, Ga.
During the 2021 season, Mitchell played in 15 games as a freshman with 29 catches for 426 yards. He earned his reputation as a big-game player by hauling in touchdown receptions against Michigan and Alabama in the College Football Playoff.

In 2022, Mitchell’s sophomore season was hampered by injury but he managed to return for UGA’s big late-season games. He caught the go-ahead touchdown against Ohio State in the Peach Bowl as part of a furious fourth-quarter comeback against the Buckeyes. Then he made it 4-for-4 with a scoring catch against TCU during UGA’s 65-7 rout of the Horned Frogs in the 2023 national championship game.
Mitchell joins Byron Murphy (No. 16 overall, Seattle), Xavier Worthy (No. 28 overall, Kansas City), T’Vondre Sweat (No. 38 overall, Tennessee), and Jonathon Brooks (No. 46 overall, Carolina) in the draft.
A member of the 2021 class, Mitchell was ranked as the No. 302 overall prospect, the No. 45 wide receiver, and the No. 8 player from Tennessee in the On3 Industry Ranking.
