Steve Sarkisian, Pete Kwiatkowski, and Jeff Choate reached into the transfer portal to find a quality linebacker and went back to a familiar spot to find one.

Alabama linebacker Ben Davis, a former top 10 prospect and the No. 1 inside linebacker in the 2016 class, committed to Texas on Monday. Davis, originally from Gordo, Ala., entered the transfer portal on February 15.

During the 2020 season, Davis played in 10 games for the Crimson Tide. He played in 11 games in 2019 and two games in 2018.

Davis is the fifth transfer to join the Longhorns program along with Devin Richardson (New Mexico State), Ray Thornton (LSU), Ovie Oghoufo (Notre Dame), and Darion Dunn (McNeese State).
