Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian labeled safety Andrew Mukuba as “questionable” for Saturday’s game between the No. 5 Longhorns and the No. 25 Vanderbilt Commodores. Mukuba suffered a knee injury that knocked him out of Texas’ loss to Georgia.

“He’ll be questionable this week,” Sarkisian said. “We’re going to have to monitor him. We do have the bye after this game before we come back, and I believe we play Florida after that. We’re just going to monitor him closely this week. I’m not going to put him back out there if he’s not ready to go knowing that I can have a couple of more weeks after this to get him healthy, a little similar to the Quinn (Ewers) situation I guess.”

Sarkisian made sure to know that it’s “nothing that is season ending, anything of that sort.”

Prior to his injury, Mukuba had tallied five tackles against the Bulldogs with four of them solo plus an incredibly athletic first-quarter interception of Carson Beck.

On the season, his first at Texas, Mukuba has 25 combined tackles with one tackle for loss and two interceptions.

The Longhorns may look for more from Michael Taaffe, plus play from younger contributors like Jelani McDonald and Jordon Johnson-Rubell. A position switch could be on the table, too, for players like Jahdae Barron and Jaylon Guilbeau.

Texas will battle Vanderbilt on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. at 3:15 p.m. The game will be on SEC Network.
