In the press kit for the announcement, Manning answered a handful of questions.

What was the first thing you loved about football?

“I loved being able to have fun and play with my friends. I love winning. So anytime you get the chance to compete, be in close games, it’s kind of what you live for. The most exciting thing is having shared success with your teammates. I think football teaches you a lot, and having success with 10 other guys on the field with you is a cool thing.”

Was there ever a time you imagined playing another position or sport?

“My dad was a receiver, so I kind of always saw myself as a receiver up until about freshman year of high school and I stuck with quarterback. But I grew up playing everything: baseball, basketball, karate, gymnastics, golf. I still play golf to this day, I wish I was a little bit better. But definitely not swimming. I remember I didn’t like swimming.”

Who are some of your sports role models?

“I really like to watch Josh Allen. He’s one of my biggest role models. I love the way he plays. I like the way he carries himself. In other sports, I’d say it’s Michael Jordan, my dad loved him when I was growing up. They are the ultimate competitors, they have fun, and they stay true to themselves.”

At Vuori we’re currently celebrating our ten-year anniversary and have been talking a lot about what it takes to build a legacy. How do you balance carrying the Manning name with building your own identity?

“I think building your own legacy starts with staying true to yourself. There’s a lot of built-up pressure, but I try to just work hard and be present—not looking at the past or the future—but instead focusing right in the moment where my feet are.”

How would you best describe how you want to show up on the field with this team?

“I play a team sport, it’s not all about me. So doing whatever I can to help the team win and bring energy. I started playing football because I loved it, so I don’t want to lose that love. It’s all about just enjoying the time out there with my buddies, having a good time, and hopefully some success.”

What excites you most about the season ahead?

“Being able to play a little bit more, play in big games and just enjoy the ride, enjoy the process. The season’s long, but you get to get close to all your teammates and it’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
