Texas is coming off a 38-20 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers in Austin. Texas jumped out to a 28-7 lead in the first half with Hudson Card at the helm instead of Quinn Ewers. Card passed for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Xavier Worthy and Ja’Tavion Sanders each caught two touchdowns, and Worthy passed for one to Sanders as well. Bijan Robinson also topped 100 yards on the ground.
Oklahoma is 3-2 under first-year head coach Brent Venables, but has lost two-straight contests following an undefeated start. The Sooners fell to the Kansas State Wildcats in Norman, Okla. in Week 4, then were crushed by TCU in Fort Worth on Saturday.
Venables returns to Oklahoma after spending over a decade as the Sooner defensive coordinator. He was with Bob Stoops from 1999-2011 before joining Dabo Swinney’s staff at Clemson. When Lincoln Riley left the Oklahoma job to become the head coach at USC, the Sooners brought Venables back to Norman for his first head coaching job.
Texas vs. Oklahoma kicks off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 8. It will air on ABC.
