Bijan Robinson, Jaylan Ford named to The Athletic's All-America teams

Texas running back Bijan Robinson and linebacker Jaylan Ford were named All-Americans by The Athletic on Wednesday. Robinson was one of two first-team running backs, while Ford was recognized as one of three linebackers on the second team.

Robinson, a third-year running back from Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic, was recently named to the All-Big 12’s first team. He rushed for 1580 yards and 18 touchdowns on 258 carries, and added 19 receptions for 314 yards and two scores. His 1894 yards from scrimmage leads the FBS.

Joining Robinson as The Athletic’s first-team running back was Michigan’s Blake Corum, who rushed for 1463 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Wolverines. The only other Big 12 players to join Robinson on the first team were Kansas State offensive guard Cooper Beebe, Kansas State all-purpose player Deuce Vaughn, and Texas Tech defensive end Tyree Wilson.

Ford, a third-year linebacker from Frisco (Texas) Lone Star, was the second-leading tackler in the Big 12 with 109. He was a first-team All-Big 12 selection along with fellow Longhorn linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. On The Athletic’s All-America second-team, he was joined at linebacker by LSU’s Harold Perkins and Georgia’s Jamon Dumas-Johnson. The only other Big 12 players on the second team were TCU quarterback Max Duggan and TCU OG Steve Avila.
