Cameron Dicker named a semifinalist for William V. Campbell Trophy

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Football senior K Cameron Dicker has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced on Wednesday. Texas has had to previous winners of the Campbell Trophy in Dallas Griffin (2007) and Sam Acho (2010).

Dicker, an Austin, Texas native, has handled place-kicking, kickoff and punting duties for the Longhorns this season. For his career, Dicker has made 48 of his 67 career field goal attempts with 180 made PATs for a total of 324 points to rank fifth on Texas’ all-time scoring list and third among kickers. This season, he has been successful on one of three field goal attempts and is a perfect 23-for-23 on point-after attempts. Through the first four games of the year, he has punted seven times for 339 yards to average 48.4 yards per punt with four punts of more than 50 yards, including a long of 54 yards. On kickoffs, Dicker has had 27 attempts for 1,697 yards with 21 touchbacks. Against Texas Tech last week, Dicker equaled the program record for extra-point attempts and makes in a game, succeeding on all 10 of his tries against the Red Raiders. He also extending his streak of successful attempts to 44 straight, dating back to his overtime try in the Longhorns’ 41-34 overtime victory at Oklahoma State last season.

Celebrating its 32nd year, the Campbell Trophy recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

Candidates for the Campbell Trophy are nominated by their schools and must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of playing eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first-team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. The class is selected each year by the NFF Awards Committee, which is comprised of a nationally recognized group of media, College Football Hall of Famers and athletics administrators.

The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Oct. 27, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2021 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments. The finalists will travel to the ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas for the 63rd NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 7, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports. Live during the event, one member of the class will be declared as the winner of the 32nd Campbell Trophy® and have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000.
