Inside Texas has the latest details for three Houston prospects the Longhorns have recruited for much of the 2025 cycle.

Nick Townsend, TE/ATH, Spring (Texas) Dekaney

The uber-talented athlete from the Houston area will announce on July 15th on 247Sports channels. Townsend took official visits to USC, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M during the months of May and June.

The Longhorns currently have an 86.6% chance of landing Townsend, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Townsend is ranked as the No. 142 overall prospect, the No. 7 tight end, and the No. 26 player in Texas according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

On3 ranks Townsend as the No. 145 overall prospect, the No. 8 tight end, and the No. 25 player in Texas.

Kelshaun Johnson, WR, Hitchcock (Texas)

Hitchcock will announce on Wednesday, July 10, he told On3’s Chad Simmons.

“I have moved it back to Wednesday. We are still working on a time,” Johnson told Simmons.

He took visits to a number of schools but this has turned into a Texas-Texas A&M recruitment.

“They are great schools,” Johnson told Simmons. “I like the coaches at Texas and Texas A&M, both have good offense and the coaches at Arkansas and USC are great too. I have been thinking about this decision for a while, and I am ready, but I will have to wait a little longer.”
