Beard’s attorney, Perry Minton, released the following statement to Inside Texas: “Coach Beard is 100 percent innocent of these charges. He should have never been arrested. The complainant wants him released immediately and all charges dismissed. It is truly inconceivable.”
Beard, 49, was booked at 4:18 a.m. on Monday morning. The charge is a third degree felony.
Beard is in his second season as head coach of the Longhorns. He is 29-13 at Texas, including 7-1 this season. His combined record from his time at Texas, Texas Tech, and Little Rock is 171-73.
