Circa Sports releases updated odds for Texas vs. Rice
The Texas Longhorns will open the 2023 regular season, their final in the Big 12, versus the Rice Owls on September 2. Rice will play Texas not because it is easy, but because it is hard.

Overcoming the Longhorns may be a tough task, but overcoming the Las Vegas line could be slightly more doable for Mike Bloomgren‘s program. On Friday, Circa Sports released updated Week 0/1 betting lines.
Texas was a 35-point favorite over the Owls with the over/under set at 59.5. The Longhorns are currently on a 15-game winning streak straight up versus the Owls, but possess a 10-5 record against the spread in those games using data retrieved from OddsShark.
Texas covered a 26-point spread over Rice in 2021 with a 58-0 win. The Horns rushed 41 times for 427 yards with six touchdowns, while the UT defense surrendered only 272 total yards. Casey Thompson was 15-of-18 for 164 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Bijan Robinson rushed 13 times for 127 yards and three touchdowns, and Jonathon Brooks, Keilan Robinson, and Roschon Johnson all found the end zone. Xavier Worthy and Jared Wiley hauled in touchdown passes from Thompson.
The Longhorns are 14-11 against the spread under Steve Sarkisian.
