The On3 Consensus 5-star EDGE prospect informed Inside Texas on Tuesday night that he plans to be in attendance Saturday when TCU and Texas do battle.
Simmons, the No. 5 ranked prospect in the 2024 cycle, has been a top target of the Texas staff since being offered September 21, 2021. The Longhorns were the first Power 5 program to offer.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound pass rusher has been on campus multiple times since being offered. He has remained in consistent communication with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, assistant Jeff Banks, members of the defensive staff and Texas director of high school relations Chris Gilbert since being offered.
Simmons is currently expected to play college football in the SEC. The Longhorns are battling the likes of LSU, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas A&M for the “must get” recruit. He has been on campus at all of the top SEC programs under consideration within the last year.
