Colt McCoy, Alex Okafor, Marquise Goodwin headline the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor's class of 2024
Three of the best Texas Longhorns football players of the 21st century will be enshrined in the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor on September 20, the athletic department announced on Thursday. Colt McCoy, Alex Okafor, and Marquise Goodwin will be enshrined as part of a 12-member class that includes 10 former student-athletes and two coaches.

McCoy, whose No. 12 at Texas is one of six retired numbers, redshirted in 2005 before becoming the Longhorns’ starting quarterback in 2006. During his four-year career, McCoy won a then-NCAA record 45 games in 53 career starts. The Longhorns won at least 10 games in all four of his seasons on the 40 Acres, winning the 2009 Big 12 championship and finishing as a national finalist.
He set numerous records along the way. He’s the school’s all-time leader in completions (1157), attempts (1645), yards (13253), completion percentage (70.3), and touchdowns (112). He has single game school records for yards (470), completions (41), and touchdowns (6). He has single season records for completions (332, twice), touchdown passes (34), and yards (3859).
McCoy was a two-time All-American, a two-time Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year, a two-time Heisman Finalist, the 2009 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, the 2009 Maxwell Award winner, and the 2009 Davey O’Brien Award winner.
McCoy was picked in the third round of the 2010 draft by the Cleveland Browns. He played for Cleveland, San Francisco, Washington, the New York Giants, and Arizona. In his career, he racked up a 63 percent completion percentage with 7975 yards, 34 passing touchdowns, 32 interceptions, and two rushing touchdowns.
Okafor earned first-team All-America honors from the AFCA in 2011 and the first of back-to-back first-team All-Big 12 selections. He was a three year starter for the Longhorns with 33 starts in 52 appearances. He earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2012, a season that culminated in a 4.5-sack, 5.0-TFL performance in the Alamo Bowl against Oregon State. He finished his Texas career with 150 total tackles, 34.0 TFL, 23 sacks, and seven forced fumbles.
Goodwin, a football and track letterwinner, played in 50 games with 22 starts for the Longhorn football program. He tallied 120 receptions for 1364 yards and seven receiving touchdowns along with 46 carries for 405 yards and three scores in his four-year UT career. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown as part of his extensive work as the Longhorns’ main kickoff returner. In addition to his achievements on the gridiron, Goodwin was a two-time NCAA long jump champion and a four-time All-American. He competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in the long jump before embarking on his senior season. He went on to a 10-plus year career in the NFL.
Other inductees into the Hall of Honor include women’s swimming and diving’s Julie Cooper Bliemel, men’s basketball’s Reggie Freeman, women’s tennis’ Farley Taylor Lansing, volleyball’s Mira Topic Losert, baseball’s Omar Quintanilla, softball’s Lexy Bennett Skaggs, and track and field’s Karen Nelson Walters. Current men’s golf coach John Fields and former rowing coach Carie Graves were special selections to the Hall of Honor.
The newest members of the Hall will receive a special salute during the Texas Football game versus ULM on Saturday, Sept. 21, per release.

The class will be inducted on Friday, Sept. 20 in a ceremony at the LBJ Auditorium and Conference Center. Tickets for this year’s Hall of Honor show will be general admission and are available for $25 per person at this link.
