Texas defeated Rice in the season opener before traveling to Tuscaloosa and topping the Crimson Tide 34-24 in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Wyoming hosted Texas Tech and Portland State in Laramie, defeating the Red Raiders in overtime and PSU with relative ease.
