Consensus 4-star OT Malik Agbo commits to Texas
Over 25 programs issued an offer to Federal Way (Wash.) Todd Beamer tackle and On3 consensus four-star Malik Agbo. He eventually narrowed his focus down to Auburn, Miami, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Now there’s just one. Agbo, the consensus No. 18 tackle in the country and No. 5 prospect in Washington, has committed to Steve Sarkisian, Kyle Flood, and the Texas Longhorns.

Agbo visited Texas for the Oklahoma State game on October 16. He also took visits to Miami, Oklahoma, Arizona State, and Auburn. Coaching changes at two of those schools helped the Longhorns, who added Agbo to their current class.
Agbo spoke with On3’s Chad Simmons about what drove his decision.
“I am big on player development and I believe in coach (Kyle) Flood. He started recruiting me when he was at Alabama, so I have had a lot of time to get to know him.

“I like him as a person, he is a great coach, and I know he can develop me as an offensive lineman.
Excerpt from the Notebook:
How he fits at Texas: Agbo looks more like a guard as he’s grown older and larger. He has power and size at 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds (at least) already. He’s good in the inside zone game at turning shoulders which is about footwork and athleticism and has added pulling and lead blocking to his skill set. Agbo has a natural feel for using his size and power in the run game. He’ll likely end up as a guard serving at the point of attack in Kyle Flood’s power run game. – Ian Boyd
Strengths: A really large man with wide hips and muscular lower body. Mid-section has decent tone. Arms appear long enough to play tackle. Good hip/knee bend. Fires out of stance very quickly. Generates impressive upper body power. Appears relatively light on his feet and has smooth enough footwork to pull. Hand placement is generally good. Straight line speed is deceivingly good and gets to the second level easily. Pretty good on gap/down blocks. Can probably maul anyone he can get his hands on and has rag-dolled smaller players. Can be devastating in open field with a head of steam. Initial pass set is pretty good and will mirror the opponent. Quick enough to pick up late movement/stunt action. Has a nice pass off on his film. Looks comfortable in reverse. Doesn’t give up the inside gap easily. Can play guard or tackle with this skill set. Has FULLBACK highlights, including running the ball! Can get ornery. Is an excellent student.
Areas for Improvement: Will get upright at times. Needs to keep feet moving when engaged. Will be an even bigger monster once he starts consistently generating power from his lower body/core. Highlights are against guys that won’t be playing on Saturdays. Will get out-leveraged by smaller players at times and let them into his body. Would like to see more diverse run blocking (e.g., zone, combo, pulls).
Agbo is the 26th member of Texas’ 2022 class.
