Could either Isaiah Bond or Jaydon Blue break Xavier Worthy's record and turn Texas into 40-Yard Dash U in the process?

Last year, Xavier Worthy made history when he set a new record in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 4.21. He joined another Longhorn, Marquise Goodwin, in the exclusive club of players who ran a 4.30 or faster 40-yard dash at the combine. This week, Longhorns Jaydon Blue and Isaiah Bond aim to join them in elite athletic company and turn the all-time 40-yard dash leaderboard burnt orange.

Worthy’s 4.21 broke the previous record established by Washington wide receiver John Ross in 2017. Bond, who will run Saturday at the NFL Combine, wants to make it so Worthy spends just one year atop the leaderboard.
In high school at Buford (Ga.), Bond posted personal bests of 10.48 in the 100m and 21.04 in the 200m. His speed was his best trait, and that’s why when he injured his ankle during the Longhorns’ 2024 season he saw his effectiveness diminish. When he was healthy, he could take it to the end zone at a moment’s notice.
Bond finished the 2024 season with 34 catches for 540 yards and five touchdowns plus one rushing touchdown.
Blue wants to break the record, too.
Blue also posted strong track times in high school. As a junior, he recorded a personal record 10.7 in the 100m and was on Klein (Texas) Cain’s 4×100 and 4×200 team with fellow Longhorn Matthew Golden.

Blue rushed 134 times for 730 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024 and added 42 receptions for 368 yards and six scores.
Right now, the only schools that have multiple players who have run under a 4.3 at the combine are Texas, Baylor, and Clemson. That trio has two players apiece. Should either Bond or Blue break that barrier, the top of the 40-yard dash record books will feature more players from Texas than from any other school.

But Bond and Blue want more. They each want to put Texas on top of the leaderboard and take over the top spot.
