(Will Gallagher/IT)[/caption] AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas sophomore guard Damarcus Croaker has been granted an unconditional release from his scholarship, the school announced Tuesday afternoon. Sources confirmed to both IT's Tim Preston and Justin Wells that the second year guard Croaker will be leaving the Longhorn program as initially reported by Jeff Goodman earlier. The talented shooting guard from Orlando has long been rumored as an attrition candidate after fathering a child during the 2013-14 school year whom is back home in Florida with the child's mother. Between the pull of family and the dearth of playing time, it's no real surprise that Croaker decided his best chance to get playing time was elsewhere, especially considering he's still behind two juniors, two sophomores and that Texas brought in two highly rated back court recruits in their most recent recruiting class. It is unknown at this time where Damarcus will be transferring to, but wherever it is will be getting a talented scorer and an athlete as gifted as any in the country for his size. Croaker is the sixth guard (all sophomores or younger) to leave the Texas program over the last three years (Sterling Gibbs - Seton Hall, Myck Kabongo - NBA, Julien Lewis - Fresno State, Sheldon McClellan - Miami, Martez Walker - dismissed from team). Stay tuned for more information about Damarcus' decision as it is passed along and stay tuned tonight to Inside Texas as the Longhorns play through this news as they take on Lipscomb at 7:00 pm at the Erwin Center.
