Several Texas coaches and athletics director Chris Del Conte are set to hit the road this week as part of the Texas Fight Tour put on by the Texas Exes. Del Conte, head football coach Steve Sarkisian, head men’s basketball coach Rodney Terry, and head women’s basketball coach Vic Schaefer are all scheduled to be part of the program.

The Austin leg of the tour was in April as part of festivities surrounding the Orange-White Game. The first stop this week is on Tuesday in San Antonio at the Chicken N Pickle. The tour continues in Dallas on Wednesday at Ferris Wheelers Backyard and BBQ. The burnt orange crew stays in the DFW Metroplex on Thursday with a stop at Fort Worth Stockyards Station. The tour ends on May 16 in Houston with an event at J-Bar-M Barbecue. Each stop gets underway at 6 p.m. More details can be found here.

Last year, Del Conte and Sarkisian spoke about NIL in earnest. Del Conte said at the Dallas leg in 2022 that “NIL is our game” due to the amount of living alumni of the University of Texas. Sarkisian was able to discuss newly enacted rules that allowed the coaches to be with players for two hours of skill development per week during the summer.

This will be Terry’s first time on the Longhorn barnstorming tour. Former head coach Chris Beard was a fixture at these events during his time in Austin, using the stops as a way to continue to hammer home his “unite the family” campaign.

At the event in Houston last year, Schaefer auctioned off the opportunity to sit on the Longhorns bench for one of the contests in the Moody Center during the 2022-23 campaign and raised several thousand dollars in the process.

The start time for each event is 6 p.m.
