Despite injury at Senior Bowl, Roschon Johnson's stock remains high
Roschon Johnson is one of two Texas Longhorns at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. this week along with DeMarvion Overshown. The two are not the Longhorns’ only 2023 NFL Draft prospects, but they are the only two at the annual showcase often used as a way to prove to NFL scouts, coaches, and executives they were worthy of selection in April’s draft.

Johnson, who though an unquestioned team leader, was behind Bijan Robinson on the depth chart during the 2021 and 2022 season. Johnson had plenty to show to NFL decision-makers in attendance on the campus of the University of South Alabama, and in the early stages of practices he was doing just that.
Then, something Johnson had managed to avoid for most of his four years at Texas struck.
Not only did Johnson impress, according to the NFL insider, he did it all with a broken hand.
It’s unfortunate Johnson won’t be able to continue to play this week and do so many of the things that made him a beloved figure to Longhorn fans. However, something Rapoport said should give Johnson and UT fans solace.
A respected NFL reporter, Rapoport described Johnson as a “potential Day 2 pick” in his tweet, meaning he believes Johnson could hear his name called in the second or third rounds with a good leadup to the draft.

Losing the opportunity to practice and play in the Senior Bowl, scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on NFL Network, won’t provide Johnson with a crucial chance to improve his stock. But Rapoport’s own report and Johnson’s character indicate “RoJo” already has a strong reputation in NFL circles to where he is already considered worthy of selection in the seven-round event.
Johnson will have more opportunities to prove himself for the next level, whether it be at the NFL Combine, the University of Texas pro timing day, or with various visits with franchises.
Even without the additional opportunity in Alabama, Johnson won’t lose much stock with this injury setback. His great reputation precedes him.
