Jamison, a 5-foot-10 fourth-year senior out of Houston’s Lamar High School, has started 31 games and appeared in 48 contests during his Texas career. He tallied 48 tackles and one interception during the 2021 season, while also taking on Texas’ primary punt and kick return duties.

A member of Texas’ class of 2018, Jamison is electing to use his eligibility relief from the NCAA instead of entering the NFL Draft.

Jamison began his career as a wide receiver when Texas needed pass-catching depth before moving to his high school position of defensive back ahead of the 2019 season.

In his career, he has 115 total tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, four interceptions, 10 passes defended, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.

He has two kick return touchdowns and one punt return touchdown in his career, and averaged 23 yards on his 18 kick returns this season.

Texas has three players in its 2022 class who could profile to corner in Ronald Lewis, Austin Jordan, and Jaylon Guilbeau. There are also promising corner options on the Texas roster in Kitan Crawford and Jahdae Barron.

McNeese State transfer Darion Dunn, who played often in 2021 in a third corner role, has not made his 2022 intentions known. The other member of Texas’ most often utilized 2021 corner tandem, Josh Thompson, elected not to use his extra season of eligibility and instead entered the NFL Draft.

Jamison provides a proven, experienced corner for the 2022 Texas secondary in addition to his status as kick returner who can break a big play whenever he has the ball.

Though honored on Texas’ senior day, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian mentioned following the Kansas State game that Jamison’s presence among the honored seniors should not be taken as the final word on his 2022 status.

Other Texas players with the ability to return include DeMarvion Overshown, and Keondre Coburn. All three went through senior day festivities.

All three may come back, but so far, Jamison is the only one to announce he’ll be in Austin for one more year.

This is a developing story. Stay up to date with the latest Texas Longhorns information on the Inside Texas Members Only board.
