There’s been a building amount of buzz in recent weeks about the new EA Sports College Football 25 video game. Earlier this week, EA released offensive and defensive power rankings. Texas’ offense was power-ranked No. 4 with a 91 overall rating, a grade that matched Alabama at No. 3 and trailed No. 2 Oregon and No. 1 Georgia. The Dawgs and the Ducks were rated 94 overall. The Longhorn defense was given a grade of 88 overall, good for 8th.

On Friday, EA Sports released its team power rankings. Texas was given a 92 overall grade, tied with Alabama and good for a No. 5 power ranking.

When using Texas in the new game, teams playing at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium will have a tall task. Not only are the Longhorns a formidable opponent, but the home environment is ranked as one of the best in the country. Texas was ranked No. 19 in terms of homefield advantage, good for 10th in the SEC.

These rankings are a fresh look and offer a different perspective than the preseason polls like the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll fans typically have to wait for until mid-August. They’re sure to still stir controversy all the same.
