Five Longhorns ascribed odds to win several of college football's highest honors

Betonline.ag released odds for four of the most prestigious college football awards on Monday, and several Longhorns were ascribed odds to win the respective honors. Quarterback Quinn Ewers, running back CJ Baxter, wide receiver Isaiah Bond, wide receiver Silas Bolden, and tight end Amari Niblack were the Texas football players assigned numbers related to winning end-of-year honors for their respective positions.

Ewers was given 7-to-1 odds to win the Davey O’Brien Award. The Davey O’Brien is given annually to the collegiate American football player judged to be the best of all NCAA quarterbacks. At certain points in its history, the award was given to the best NCAA football player playing in the southwestern United States. Texas Longhorns to win the honor include Earl Campbell in 1977, Vince Young in 2005, and Colt McCoy in 2009.

Ahead of Ewers in the odds were Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel at 5-to-1 and Georgia’s Carson Beck at 6-to-1.

Baxter was given 20-to-1 odds to win the Doak Walker Award. The Doak Walker Award is awarded annually to the nation’s top running back. Longhorns who have earned the honor include Ricky Williams in 1997 and 1998, Cedric Benson in 2004, D’Onta Foreman in 2016, and Bijan Robinson in 2022.

Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II, Michigan’s Donovan Edwards, North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton, and Georgia’s Trevor Etienne were the top four favorites.

Several Longhorns were ascribed odds to win the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding receiver in college football. Bond had 15-to-1 odds while Bolden was a longshot with 88-to-1 odds. Missouri’s Luther Burden, Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka, and Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan were the top three favorites.

No Longhorn has ever won the Biletnikoff.

Finally, Niblack opened with 45-to-1 odds to win the John Mackey Award. The John Mackey Award is presented annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football. No Longhorn has ever won the Mackey.

The betting favorites for the Mackey were Michigan’s Colston Loveland, Ole Miss’s Caden Prieskorn, Notre Dame’s Mitchell Evans, and Iowa’s Luke Lachey.

These awards will be distributed at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 12.
