While Texas RB D’Onta Foreman was celebrating going to the Houston Texans in the 3rd round, the other Longhorn prospects were in wait-and-see mode.

As soon as the 2017 NFL Draft ended, five UT football players received phone calls. Four signed undrafted free agent deals, while one will attend two mini-camp tryouts.

Paul Boyette, defensive tackle, inked with the Oakland Raiders.

Tyrone Swoopes, QB/RB (TE in the NFL), signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Kent Perkins, 3-year starting offensive lineman, is headed to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Caleb Bluiett, tight end/DE/tight end, gets a shot with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Dylan Haines, former walk-on turned 2-year starter, will attend mini-camp tryouts with the Houston Texans and the New York Jets.

Former Longhorn DB Adrian Colbert, who transferred to Miami, was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 7th round. Also, former UT LB Dalton Santos went undrafted and is weighing his options post-draft.

In conclusion, it’s safe to say this will be the last draft for awhile that lacks Texas star power. This morning, OT Connor Williams was mentioned as a Top 5 pick in 2018 if he skips his senior year. Malik Jefferson, Kris Boyd, Holton Hill, and Michael Dickson are also possibilities to leave early and submit to the NFL Draft next April.
