On3 Four-star athlete Aeryn Hampton commits to Texas (w/quotes)
Texas added another piece to its 2024 class tonight in Daingerfield (Texas) ATH Aeryn Hampton. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder selected the Longhorns over offers from TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma State among others.
Hampton committed and subsequently decommitted from Baylor earlier this fall. He becomes the second member of Texas’ 2024 class along with Aledo CB Jaden Allen.

Inside Texas spoke with Hampton about his reasoning for selecting the Longhorns.
“I love Texas, it just feels like home,” said Hampton. “The facilities and how they make you feel at home are the main reasons. I’m a Longhorn, man.”
The four-star east Texan recently visited Texas for the junior day and spent 1-on-1 time with head coach Steve Sarkisian.
Hampton had a breakout 2021 season for the Daingerfield Tigers totaling 44 receptions, 1,029 yards, 74 tackles, 9 interceptions, and 23 total touchdowns. Hampton garnered 3A first team all-state honors on defense along with second team all-state honors on offense.

Earlier this year, Hampton was selected as a member of the 2024 On3 Top 100 watchlist, The 100 prospects that compose the watchlist have an early four-star rating. The majority have a grade of 90 (the lowest four-star grade) with 18 holding an initial grade of 91.
The On3 rankings for the 2024 class will expand to 300 this spring and will be updated on a regular basis throughout the remainder of the cycle.
Hampton ranked as a four-star athlete with an initial prospect grade of 90, and was one of 20 prospects from the state of Texas listed on the watchlist. Texas views Hampton as a corner or nickel and is recruiting him as a defensive back.
