The No. 45 ranked prospect in the class of 2024 will announce out of finalists Texas, Auburn, Miami, Houston, LSU, TCU and Virginia Tech.

Codie made an official visit to Texas September 16, along with his family and uncle. Codie’s father is former Cleburne High, Baylor and NFL safety Nakia Codie. Codie’s uncle is former Cleburne High and Texas Longhorns wide receiver Dustin Armstrong.

Assistant Brandon Chappell is the lead recruiter for the Longhorns with Frank Haith and Rodney Terry assisting in the recruitment.

The Houston Cougars began the summer and official visit process as the perceived leader. That has seemingly changed with Texas, Auburn and Miami ascending to be the three favorites headed into Thursday’s decision.

Nic Codie Scouting report from On3

The upside of Nic Codie is so intriguing. Standing in the 6-8 range with a reported 7-2 wingspan, you like the way he moves. This gives him upside on the defensive end, with the fluidity to slide his feet and the length to get in the passing lanes and rotate on the block. Offensively, he is crafty in the paint. He has a quick, off-cadence release from 15-feet and in and he is confident with a jump hook or floater with his right hand. While the ball skills are still raw and he will need to continue working on the balance and footwork, he shows the ability to step out and knock down a three. There is a lot to like here, and Codie is younger for his grade. His dad, Nakia Codie, played defensive back in the NFL.

Codie averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds per game as a junior. He was named the 9-5A MVP folloing the season.
