Four-star RB Christian Clark commits to Texas
Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice sets his sights high every cycle, and that effort paid off yet again in the 2024 class. Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe running back Christian Clark committed to Texas, choosing the Longhorns over Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and Florida State.

Clark is ranked as the No. 269 overall prospect, the No. 20 running back, and the No. 4 prospect from Arizona in the On3 Industry Ranking. As a junior, Clark rushed for 737 yards on 103 carries and scored 11 touchdowns. He also caught 37 passes for 368 yards and five scores.
How he fits at Texas:
Christian Clark reminds me of the last blue chip running back to come out of Arizona and draw Texas’ interest at running back, Bijan Robinson. He has some similar dynamism as a runner with some shocking lateral agility and the ability to stop and change directions on a dime. Backs like Clark can make most any scheme work because they can threaten multiple windows across the front at the same time, he’d be a slam dunk in the Texas offense. – Ian Boyd

Coach Says:
Strengths — Good height and build for the position even as a high schooler. Has strong, longish arms and runs on a strong, muscular lower half. First steps look sure and his ability to press the hole on outside run plays is very good. Exceptional acceleration getting a gliding top end speed with seemingly little effort. Loses almost no speed with most change of direction. Will plant the foot and one cut quite decisively. Would look great in a zone scheme. Top end speed is average to above average for the position. Shows excellent balance and light feet in traffic. Run blocking is featured on his film which is uncommon. Establishes a good base and presses the action. Good hand placement and tries to finish blocks. Generates very good power from his core. As a receiver shows very natural and fluid catching motion. Adjusts really well to the poorly thrown ball. Has a knack for gaining extra yards post contact and will be a YAC machine.

Areas for Improvement / Concerns — As a pass catcher, will let the ball into his body on quite a few highlights.
Clark is the fifth member of Texas’ 2024 class along with Freddie Dubose, Santana Wilson, Trey Owens, and Michael Kern.
