Last week Texas coaches hit North Carolina and handed out a few offers. Today, they were back in a bit more familiar territory of Georgia.

In the 2025 cycle, Texas was able to sign four players from Georgia: Five-star defensive tackle Justus Terry, four-star safety Zelus Hicks, four-star offensive lineman Nick Brooks, and three-star tight end Emaree Winston.

If you want to compete in the SEC, you have to recruit SEC-level players. With Texas’ profile returned to national prominence, expect the trend of success in the southeast to continue.

On Monday, just two days after Texas coaches held a successful Junior Day, running backs coach Tashard Choice, defensive tackles coach Kenny Baker, and Special Assistant to Head Coach Chris Gilbert made the rounds. In addition, tight ends coach Jeff Banks also made his way to Georgia.

Before we get to the public visits, Choice also saw running back Amari Latimer today. Though he’s a low four-star, the market for the Tyrone (Georgia) Sandy Creek product suggests he’s much more talented than that. Michigan and Georgia are providing stiff competition for Texas.

Four-star safety Nassir McCoy

McCoy attends talent factory Buford which has produced players like Vadal Alexander, KJ Bolden, Justice Haynes and recent Longhorn Isaiah Bond.

McCoy, a lengthy four-star safety, has recently visited Miami and Auburn and will visit Georgia soon.

Texas has offered three instate safeties recently — Donovan Webb (Panther Creek), Chace Calicut (North Shore), and Aaron Bradshaw (North Crowley) — but may look to cast a wider net.

While at Buford, Baker likely visited with defensive tackle Bryce Perry-Wright, a strong four-star.

Four-star jumbo athlete Heze Kent

It’s not the greatest instate cycle for tight ends so Banks is scouring the country. Georgia was good to him last year with tight end Emaree Winston but it’s debatable whether Kent’s long term position is tight end or offensive tackle. That’s a big kid, but he certainly moves well.

The 6-foot-6, 265 pound jumbo athlete visited Miami, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida this season.

Four-star linebacker Anthony Davis

Expect Texas to take a pretty big linebacker class in 2026. A handful of instate targets were on campus on Saturday. Today Texas coaches took the Junior Day to Anthony Davis from Loganville (Ga.) Grayson. This is the same school Nick Brooks attended his senior year.

Davis has much of the country after him, including regional SEC schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Ole Miss. The 6-foot-2, 200 pounder visited Texas for its game against Kentucky on November 23rd.

Four-star Edge Dre Quinn

Quinn, a 6-foot-4, 225 pound stud out of Atlanta picked up a Texas offer today.

Quinn has been very popular. Just this month he’s picked up offers from LSU, Ohio State, USC, and Texas A&M. He’s also visited both Georgia and Tennessee.

The Texas Edge room is a strength and having Colin Simmons as an ambassador for the program surely won’t hurt Pete Kwiatkowski‘s chances for accumulating more talent.
